Honey/ Section Honey Comb
The language used to describe Honey and Honey Section Comb is the same as wine and perfume. Honey has a combination of aroma and flavours all of its own.
| Top note: |
The taste of the initial burst of flavour as the liquid gold first connects with your taste buds – honey can vary from crisp and sharp to extremely mellow. |
| Mid note: |
That rounded taste as the honey mingles with saliva and your taste buds trigger the brain to search for recognition of the floral source of the honey and words to describe the flavor comparison. |
| Base note: |
|
| The lingering taste sensation after the ingestion of the honey |
South Australia produces some of Australia’s premium honey and is well known particularly for its Blue Gum, Pink Gum, Cup Gum, Box and Mallee varieties.
Honey flavours will vary from season to season depending on floral nectar yielding cycles, climate and regions from which the floral sources are accessed. This includes native flora, fruit and exotic plants as well as domestic and commercial crop sources.
Just as South Australia is known by its wine growing regions it is also becoming increasingly recognised for its honey producing regions amongst honey consumers internationally.
